Tamil Nadu ranks #2 nationally in the SKOCH State of Governance Report 2022.
Total of 82 well-performing projects qualified for SKOCH Order-of-Merit, out of which 9 were highly impactful and 15 were impactful projects.
State performed very well in 22 categories.
Topped in e-Governance, Municipal Governance, Tourism & Culture and Urban Development categories nationally.
Has shown maximum improvement in District Governance and Police & Safety.
Participating first time in Power & Energy, Social Justice & Social Security, Cooperation, Environment, Revenue, Forest and Handlooms & Textiles and entered in the top 10 nationally.
Recovered in Education, Finance, General Administration, Health, Rural Development, Skill Development, Transport and Water.
District Governance and Urban Development submitted a larger number of projects for evaluation. Out of these, several well-performing projects were qualified as highly impactful and impactful projects.
Key achievements
Tamil Nadu bagged 82 SKOCH Orders-of-Merit in the SKOCH State of Governance Awards 2022.
Almost half of these are in Health, District Governance and Urban Development.
Three SKOCH Orders-of-Merit were in Tourism & Culture and Power & Energy each.
The state won six, five and four SKOCH Orders-of-Merit in e-Governance, Water and Police & Safety, respectively.
The state won 24 awards – nine in GOLD and fifteen in SILVER category.

Cooperation, e-Governance, Environment, Finance, Forest, General Administration, Health, Handlooms & Textiles, Power & Energy, Rural Development, Revenue, Skill Development, Social Justice & Security, Tourism & Culture, Transport, Urban Development and Water are the sectors which have seen enhanced focus in 2022 than from year 2021 and 2020.
Compared to its score and rank in 2021, Tamil Nadu has shown a significant improvement in score and improved its rank to reach at #2 position in 2022.
