Karnataka improves ranking significantly in the SKOCH State of Governance 2022

Highlights

• Karnataka ranks #9 nationally in the SKOCH State of Governance Report 2022.
• Total of 40 well-performing projects qualified for SKOCH Order-of-Merit, out of which 15 were impactful projects.
• State performed very well in 21 categories.
  • Has shown maximum improvement in Municipal Governance and Health.
  • Participating first time in Horticulture, Sports & Youth, Minority Affairs, Revenue and Tourism & Culture, Ease of Doing Business, Rural Development and Police & Safety and entered in the top 10 nationally.
  • Recovered in Agriculture, e-Governance, General Administration, Irrigation, Skill Development and Water.
• Health, Municipal Governance and Skill Development submitted a larger number of projects for evaluation. Out of these, several well-performing projects were qualified as highly impactful and impactful projects.
• Key achievements
  • Karnataka bagged 40 SKOCH Orders-of-Merit in the SKOCH State of Governance Awards 2022.
  • Almost half of these are in e-Governance, Skill Development, Health and Municipal Governance.
  • Three SKOCH Orders-of-Merit were in District Governance and Water each.
  • The state won 15 awards – one in GOLD and fourteen in SILVER category.

• Agriculture, Ease-of-doing business, General Administration, Horticulture, Irrigation, Minority Affairs, Police & Safety, Revenue, Rural Development, Skill Development, Sports & Youth, Tourism & Culture, and Water are the sectors which have seen enhanced focus in 2022 than from year 2021 and 2020.

• Health, District Governance and Social Justice & Security are the sectors with stable focus in the last two years.

• Compared to its score and rank in 2021, Karnataka has shown a significant improvement in score and improved its rank to reach at #9 position in 2022.
