Punjab’s performance over the 2018-2021 period shows many fluctuations, shifting between great potential and significant setbacks. In 2018, Punjab was one of the Top 10 states, ranked at #7. The following year, in 2019, Punjab fell nine places to the #16 rank. The state showed signs of getting back on the right track in 2020, climbing up four places to the #12 rank but in 2021, has once again experienced a decline to the #20 spot.
