Strong IT Infrastructure; Impressive e-Governance

Andhra Pradesh has taken several pioneering initiatives in IT sector. The State has developed a strong IT infrastructure and using it extensively to improve governance. Andhra Pradesh Technology Services Limited is a nodal agency that supports all State Government departments in all IT related processes.

Andhra Pradesh is a Performer in this year’s SKOCH Governance study. The State won 17 SKOCH Orders-of-Merit and 2 SKOCH Governance Awards – 1 each in Gold and Silver categories.

Key Achievements

Andhra Pradesh Capital City Region Development Authority has put in place a robust Land Pooling Scheme. Andhra Pradesh Government is required to acquire huge area of land to build a new capital city. To make available the required land for development of the capital city, the Government came up with a noble idea of asking farmer’s to pool their land towards capital building thus making it a true ‘People’s Capital’. The main aim of this project was to design, develop and implement an ICT solution, which accepts the applications towards land pooling from the farmer and keeps the records of all farmers (belonging to the 29 villages constituting the core area under CRDA) who contributed their land along with the extent of land contributed, the process of transfer of ownership from individual farmers to the government, acknowledge their land contribution as ‘Agreement and provided them a corresponding LPOC (Land Pooling Ownership Certificate), which is the entitlement of the developed plot farmer would receive in lieu of their land contribution.

National Informatics Centre, Andhra Pradesh, has introduced Cashless PDS. All 13 district of Andhra Pradesh are implementing ePoS in all the 28,300 Fair Price Shops (FPS) across the districts with the integration of FCI & MLS points through Supply Chain Management System for lifting and distribution of stock and with ration portability across the district.

Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) has launched a project to make the city Open Defecation Free. To ensure this, the Corporation is promoting and supporting the construction of individual household toilets and community toilets.

Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) has launched programmes including elimination of open defecation, conversion of unsanitary toilets to pour flush toilets, eradication of manual scavenging, municipal solid waste management and bringing about a behavioural change in people regarding healthy sanitation practices.

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has launched Swachha Visakha – Open Defecation Free City (ODF) campaign. With an objective to create eco-friendly, livable and healthy atmosphere in the town, Tadipatri Municipality has introduced innovative solid waste management system.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has implemented Digital Door Numbering System (DDNS). In a bid to achieve energy independence and reduce fossil fuel carbon emissions, VMC has extensively installed solar power system in the city.
