Himachal Pradesh: New Initiatives in Education, Skills

Himachal Pradesh has taken some innovative steps to make service delivery in the areas of education, skill development and social justice and securities more transparent and efficient. With five SKOCH Orders-of- Merit and one award in Silver category, Himachal Pradesh is in the category of CATCHING-UP.

Himachal Pradesh has taken some innovative steps to make service delivery in the areas of education, skill development and social justice and securities more transparent and efficient. With five SKOCH Orders-of- Merit and one award in Silver category, Himachal Pradesh is in the category of CATCHING-UP. The state bagged two SKOCH Orders-of-Merit in Education and Skill and two in Social Justice & Security. Himachal Pradesh bagged one SKOCH Order-of-Merit and one award in Silver category in e-Governance segment.

Key Achievements

Leveraging Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Himachal Pradesh has transformed its Legislative Assembly into India’s first high-tech assembly with automated and paperless functioning under the initiative e-Vidhan. It has automated the process involved in working of the Assembly including various House Committees, its Secretariat and managing Constituencies by respective Members. All documents related to the House are now made available online to its Members through touchscreens installed on their tablets and Mobile App. All papers for “laying” in the House during Assembly Sessions are sent/received online from the government departments using secure e-Vidhan website.

Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has introduced Postal Savings Accounts System for disbursement of Social Security Pension with an intention to bring transparency and efficiency in delivery mechanism. Himachal Pradesh has become the first state to digitise the assessment results of all its elementary school students. It has made available both grade and competency wise analysis of all its schools online in the form of an interactive dashboard. Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has done commendable work in providing employment to PwDs in private sector.
