Axis Capital and Part-time Member, EAC-PM
Through rigorous research and data-driven insights, he has shaped policies that have delivered measurable outcomes for the nation’s economy. Over the last two decades at Credit Suisse and now as Chief Economist of Axis Bank and Head of Global Research at Axis Capital, he has consistently bridged the gap between financial markets, research and policymaking.
His work has advanced fiscal frameworks, guided structural reforms and influenced decisions on taxation, infrastructure and labour policy. His advocacy for fiscal momentum over rate cuts, the strategic use of liquidity interventions and the prioritisation of capital expenditure over tax relief have directly informed debates on growth restoration. Likewise, his emphasis on GST rationalisation as a demand lever has helped strengthen India’s consumption base and long-term competitiveness.
At Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, he has provided invaluable guidance on resource allocation, industrial competitiveness and sustainable development planning.
