Highlights

• West Bengal ranks #2 nationally in the SKOCH State of Governance Report 2022.
• Total of 40 well-performing projects qualified for SKOCH Order-of-Merit, out of which 9 were highly impactful and 8 were impactful projects.
• State performed very well in 19 categories.
  1. Topped in Ease-of-Doing Business, Consumer Affairs, Forest, Handlooms & Textiles, Minority Affairs and Women & Child Development categories nationally.
  2. Consistent in performance in Power & Energy and Police & Safety categories.
  3. Participating for the first time in labor and entered in the top 10 nationally.
• Municipal Governance and General Administration have submitted a larger number of projects for evaluation. Out of these, several well-performing projects were qualified as highly impactful and impactful projects.
• Key achievements
  1. West Bengal bagged 40 SKOCH Orders-of-Merit in the SKOCH State of Governance Awards 2022.
  2. Almost half of these are in Power & Energy Municipal Governance and General Administration.
  3. Three SKOCH Orders-of-Merit were in Agriculture and Police & Safety each.
  4. The state won two SKOCH Orders-of-Merit in Consumer Affairs, District Governance, Education, Ease-of-Doing Business and Handlooms & Textiles each.
  5. The state won 17 awards – three in PLATINUM, six in GOLD and eight in SILVER category.

• Education, Rural Development and Tourism & Culture are the sectors with stable focus in last two years.

• Compared to its score and rank in 2021, West Bengal has shown a significant improvement in score and maintains its rank #2 in 2022.

• Most states have a large number of projects at the District and Municipal levels
