Chandigarh has ranked #25 in the SKOCH State of Governance 2021 report card. The Top 5 states are classified as ‘Star’ states. The next 5 states are classified as ‘Performer’ states. The next five states are listed in the ‘Catching Up’ category. The remaining states are catalogued as ‘Others’. The Union Territory of Chandigarh is classified in the ‘Others’ category.
Chandigarh’s performance has remained steady over the last few years, except for a minor blip in 2020. This is not to say that there is no room for improvement: Chandigarh has placed in the mid-20s over the last few years and the UT must improve if it is to rank at par with the high-performing states. The UT ranked #25 in 2018 and 2019 before falling one place to #26 in 2020. Chandigarh regained its spot at #25 in 2021.
Chandigarh tied for 4th place with some other states in the Health sector. The UT also ranked #3 in the Skill Development sector for 2021.
