Key Achievements

State Nodal Agency, Department of Health, Government of Meghalaya, has implemented Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) that ensures universal health insurance in the State. Under the scheme the Government provides financial aid to all the citizens of the State at the time of hospitalisation, thus reducing the burden of out-of-pocket expenses. While the RSBY provides Rs 30,000 cover to only the Below Poverty Line  (BPL) families, MHIS provides enhanced coverage of up to Rs 160,000 to all the families in the State. Under the scheme, beneficiaries are entitled to insurance coverage at the time of hospitalisation on a floater basis. The coverage extends to 5 members of a family, whereby each household is required to pay Rs 31 only at the time of enrollment.

NCC Directorate, North Eastern Region with support from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has started online enrollment for the National Cadet Corps (NCC). The process includes collection of cadet details through the online portal and conducting various activities like Camp Management System, Institutional Training System and Online Examination. The online enrollment for NCC application allows students from different institutes of the State to enrol themselves with the NCC for a particular unit under the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate, which contains 8 groups with 45 units. The system has made the provision of hierarchy of NCC roles like Director General, Additional Directorate General, Group, Unit, Associate NCC Office, Cadet and Student.
