In a rapidly digitizing world, Union Bank of India has emerged as a guardian of cyber security through its Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (CCoE), the first-of-its-kind in India’s banking sector. Established in Hyderabad in April 2022, the CCoE reflects Union Bank’s unwavering commitment to fortifying its systems against evolving cyber threats.

At the heart of the CCoE lies innovation—its state-of the-art sandbox platforms and threat intelligence systems work tirelessly to identify vulnerabilities and simulate attacks, ensuring the bank stays ahead of cyber adversaries.

An essential part of the CCoE’s mission is building cyber awareness. Employees are trained through simulated phishing attacks and workshops, while customers are educated via engaging platforms like videos, metaverse content, and apps.

The impact has been profound. Union Bank now ranks in the advanced security category, earning a stellar score of 810 from global ratings agency Bitsight. Its success in IDRBT Cyber Drills—where it detects and thwarts simulated cyberattacks—has earned the bank a coveted A+ rating. This pioneering approach has also won prestigious accolades, including the IBA Award for IT Risk and Cyber Security four years in a row.

Union Bank’s CCoE is more than just a project— it’s a symbol of resilience, innovation, and excellence. By empowering people and systems alike, the bank is not only safeguarding its digital assets but also setting a benchmark for secure banking across the nation.
