Promising Initiatives in Finance, e-Governance

Haryana has taken several new initiatives to improve governance and make doing business easier. Fresh initiatives have been taken to make government-citizen interface better and improve service delivery in the areas like Finance, Transport, Education and Food Supplies. Haryana is a Performer in this year’s SKOCH Governance study. The State won 13 SKOCH Orders-of-Merit and 3 SKOCH Governance Awards—all in Gold category.

Haryana is a Performer in this year’s SKOCH Governance study. The State won 13 SKOCH Orders-of-Merit and 3 SKOCH Governance Awards—all in Gold category.

Haryana is one of the most economically developed states. Haryana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) rose by 8.2 per cent to Rs 3,96,642.67 crore in 2015-16 at constant (2011-12) prices, according to the data released by the Department of Economic & Statistical Analysis, Haryana. Gurgaon has been at the forefront of India’s IT and economic progress. It is often referred as ITeS capital of the country. More than half of the Fortune-500 companies have their offices in Gurgaon. It is most preferred location for multinational companies operating in India. The recent initiatives seek to strengthen public service in Gurgaon as also in the other parts of the State.

Key Achievements

Excise & Taxation Department has implemented Mission Mode Project for Commercial Taxes. Project is aimed at improving the existing IT infrastructure for facilitating all types of department activities as part of the VAT/Excise administration, thereby facilitating all the concerned stakeholders.

Treasuries & Accounts Department has implemented a project called e-GRAS (Government Receipt Accounting System). All sorts of Government receipts are now accepted online through this system. Treasury & Accounts Department has also implemented an impressive project e-TDS (Electronic Tax deducted at source) filing system. The electronic system is aimed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) and streamline the process of filing of quarterly TDS returns by all the DDOs of the State Government.

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has introduced several e-Governance initiatives. It includes customised ERP integrated solution, Billing Information System for Water and Sewer (BISWAS) and Shikayat Nivaran Kendra (SNK). Department of Social Justice & Empowerment is providing Social Security Pension Schemes through DBT. National Informatics Centre (NIC) has implemented Centralised File Movement and Tracking Information System and Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS).

Municipal Corporation, Faridabad has started an initiative called ‘Solar City’ with an objective to ensure maximum deployment of solar energy devices to promote energy conservation in different type of units such as residential, non-residential, commercial, industrial and institutional areas. The Corporation has run a tree plantation campaign with an objective to make the city clean and green and ensure sustainable livelihoods.
