In Jaipur’s rapidly expanding Pratap Nagar, a housing project has quietly taken shape, one that reflects both the pressures of urban living and the promise of planned development.

The Samriddhi Apartment project, developed by the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB), was conceived to address persistent issues in residential infrastructure: aging buildings, rising maintenance costs and unreliable water and waste systems. For many middle-income families, these challenges were not abstract, they were daily realities.

Launched with registrations in March 2023, the project drew 323 applicants competing for 159 flats. A lottery system determined the final beneficiaries and construction began soon after, with completion targeted for September 2025. The development includes two distinct residential formats, six-storey and low-rise structures, each designed to balance space, affordability and functionality.

Located just 3-km from Jaipur Airport and connected to major transport routes, the apartments offer more than shelter. The apartments integrate essential urban services: uninterrupted power through dedicated substations, water supply systems with storage and harvesting provisions and planned green spaces covering up to 40 percent of the area. Fire safety systems, community space and internal infrastructure further signal a shift toward organised urban living.

Yet, the journey was not without obstacles. Restricted site access, coordination across multiple contractors and supply chain disruptions posed significant challenges during execution.

Despite this, the project has delivered measurable outcomes: improved structural safety, reduced maintenance issues and enhanced living standards for its residents. Building on this foundation, the project reflects a shift in how public housing is envisioned. It is no longer merely a supply-driven exercise but now a demand-responsive urban solution. This results in several key benefits: better alignment with the practical needs of middle-income households, enhanced access to transport corridors and essential services and improved long-term livability.
