The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has achieved the #13 rank in the SKOCH State of Governance 2021 Report Card. The Top 5 states are classified as ‘Star States’. The next 5 states are classified as ‘Performer States’. The next five states are listed in the ‘Catching Up’ category. The remaining states are catalogued as ‘Others’.
Jammu and Kashmir is thus categorised in the Catching Up segment. Its performance over the last four years has been one of a gradual incline to a sharp rise in the most recent year. From being unranked in 2018 to reaching the #23 spot in 2019 and then falling back two places in 2020, J&K followed a slightly unsteady path. But in 2021, the UT has turned things around with an impressive improvement, climbing up to the #13 spot.
J&K has performed well in several governance sectors. These include Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, District Administration, eGovernance, Food & Civil Supplies, Health, Horticulture, Municipal Governance and Power & Energy.
